Architecture is often included as one of the visual arts; however, like the <a title=\"Decorative arts\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Decorative_arts\">decorative arts<\/a>, or advertising,<sup id=\"cite_ref-advertising_3-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Art#cite_note-advertising-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup> it involves the creation of objects where the practical considerations of use are essential\u2014in a way that they usually are not in a painting, for example. Music, theatre, film, dance, and other <a title=\"Performing arts\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Performing_arts\">performing arts<\/a>, as well as literature and other media such as <a title=\"Interactive media\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Interactive_media\">interactive media<\/a>, are included in a broader definition of art or <a title=\"The arts\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_arts\">the arts<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-OD_1-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Art#cite_note-OD-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup><sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Art#cite_note-4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup> Until the 17th century, <i>art<\/i> referred to any skill or mastery and was not differentiated from <a title=\"Craft\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Craft\">crafts<\/a> or <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Sciences\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sciences\">sciences<\/a>.
